Girls on the Run® employees must possess a passion for, and commitment to, improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. The Girls on the Run program provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living which includes an introduction and education on important topics such as goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and self-respect, while training for a 5K event. The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle, and harness the inner strength that they possess. Our important mission is accomplished by giving girls the tools to make positive choices for a healthy body and mind, while reducing the many risks they face today.
Girls on the Run of Greater Milwaukee is dedicated to helping pre-teen girls realize just how incredible they are. We are a nonprofit organization with the mission of inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Our vision is to positively transform how girls and women perceive themselves and their significance in society.
We are looking for highly energetic individuals who are passionate about the GOTR mission and vision. Interns will work directly with the GOTR of Greater Milwaukee staff and board members and be exposed to our shared leadership organizational structure. Interns will also have a designated coach/liaison for the duration of their internship that will provide guidance, mentoring and support. Our program sites are located across Greater Milwaukee and therefore hours and locations of activities will vary depending on interns’ availability and responsibilities. Flexibility is a plus. Each intern will be required to complete a minimum of 30+ hours. We are open to applicants from any major/minor and year of graduation. This is a non-paid internship.
