We had a wonderful evening on Friday, Feb. 20 at Café 1505 and East Towne Square. With top quality wine and beer tastings, delicious Café 1505 food, fabulous auction items, fantastic entertainment, East Towne Square raffle items and the Girls on the Run photos and stories surrounding everyone, who couldn't have a fabulous evening?
More than $17,000 was raised at the event, which was almost double what was raised in 2014. Raise Your Glass is not only a fundraiser but a “friendraiser” as well. The event draws in GOTR sponsors and donors, as well as GOTR coaches, GOTR parents and other volunteers who help our organization flourish through the connections they make.
With the money we raised at Raise Your Glass, Girls on the Run is able to bring our program to more and more girls in the Greater Milwaukee area who otherwise would not be able to afford the $150 registration fee. The fundraiser supports scholarships for the girls and helps fund the Girls on the Run running shoe program. To develop this program, Girls on the Run of Greater Milwaukee has partnered with InStep Physical Therapy & Running Centers to provide properly-fit running shoes to girls in need. Through our partnership and the generosity of our donors, Girls on the Run has purchased hundreds of shoes at a discount through InStep, who in turn helps fit each girl with the right pair to help them reach their finish line.
Thank you to Café 1505 and the East Town Square retailers as well as Capitol Husting, the wine distributor who helped keep our glasses full. We are especially grateful to all of the attendees, auction donors and volunteers who made this fabulous event possible. We look forward to doing it again next year! If you weren't able to attend this year, here's a few snapshots from the event.
